Another who peruses a couple of paranormal online journals may have known about the Valentich vanishing. This was a 20 year old pilot in a Cessna 182L light flying machine who vanished over the Bass Strait in Australia on 21st October 1978.

Valentich was a UFO fan who had radioed into Melbourne airport regulation to state he was being trailed by a flying machine around 1000 feet above him and in the meantime, was experiencing difficulty with his motor. His last report expressed "It's not a flying machine." Hunt down the missing pilot went ahead until the 25th October, by which time searchers had secured 1000 square miles yet nothing was found. The Department of Transport closed the plane had slammed and was 'assumed lethal' for Valentich. After five years a bit of destruction was found at Flinders Island. It was closed it might have originated from the missing Cessna and a portion of the serial numbers on the piece matched incompletely that of Valentich's plane. Yet, nothing promote has been found.
